L80 Casing Pipe — L80-1 (Not the 13Cr Grade)

L80 on this page means L80-1: the carbon and low-alloy grade of that name in the published grade list. The chromium variant, L80-13Cr, is listed separately in the 13Cr series.

Grade, sizes and thread forms are separate published lists; a value on one list is not documented against the others.

Two different steels share the L80 name

The published grade list contains L80 twice in two different materials: L80-1, a carbon and low-alloy steel, and L80-13Cr, a martensitic chromium stainless steel for corrosive CO2 service. They are different materials — different chemistry, different corrosion behaviour, different price basis, different inspection emphasis. If your well produces wet CO2 and the design says 13Cr, go to the 13Cr corrosion-resistant page and order there; ordering L80-1 against a 13Cr design, or the reverse, changes the material supplied and must never happen.

L80-1 is a standard published grade in this factory's casing grade list; the connection forms the catalogue lists for casing are STC, LTC and BTC, with premium patterns where the design names one, and whether a grade-and-form combination can be accepted for a line is confirmed in the quotation. The same designation is used for the L80 tubing page on the production side of the well.

If your specification sets a hardness requirement for L80-1, state it in the enquiry, together with any hardness test reporting you need in the inspection documents. The coupling grade for each line of an L80 string is a field to state on the enquiry, as the table above sets out for the pipe grade.

L80-1 appears in the source data in three places: the published grade list for the casing family, alongside J55, K55, N80-1, N80Q and P110; the coupling catalogue, whose API coupling entry names L80 among the grades its BTC couplings cover; and the tubing side, where an N80/L80 tubing coupling stock entry is named. The casing family also publishes a fourteen-size list, 4-1/2 in to 20 in, as its own list; no entry states that L80-1 is ordered across that list. None of those entries publishes a size-by-grade availability matrix, which is why the size, weight and thread combination on an L80-1 order is confirmed line by line in the quotation rather than read off a chart.

L80-1 in the wider programme

In a programme, L80-1 appears in the sections the design assigns to it. Where the same well also runs L80 tubing, casing and tubing grades can be sent on one specification sheet; the enquiry form below accepts the full string list in one message. Ask for MOQ, packing and lead time to be confirmed for the exact specification in the written quotation, and state any grade combination outside the published list on the enquiry line.

Is L80 the same as L80-13Cr?

No. L80-1 is a carbon and low-alloy steel; L80-13Cr is a chromium stainless grade for CO2 corrosion. They are different products, and the distinction must be explicit on every order.

Our spec sets a hardness limit — what should we send?

Send the limit value and the hardness test reporting you need with the enquiry. Ask how the requirement is applied and documented for your specification to be confirmed in the quotation.

Can L80 casing be supplied with premium connections?

State the connection type in the RFQ, and ask for premium thread processing on the L80 line to be confirmed for the size in the quotation.

Request a Quotation

Send your size, grade, thread and quantity. MOQ, packing and lead time are confirmed in the quotation for your exact specification — no generic promise replaces a written quote.

Documents: if your tender needs certificates, inspection records or a stated PSL level, note it in the message — documents are quoted with the order, not added afterwards.
