Why a production string is specified in L80
Tubing grade follows the same logic as casing grade, one string in: the design names the grade for each section, and L80 is one of the grades in the published list. The catalogue supports the grade on the accessory side as concretely as on the pipe side — N80 and L80 tubing couplings are named catalogue entries described as stock items. That is coupling evidence, and it speaks to the coupling itself: no L80 tubing pipe supply combination is inferred from it on this page. For wells producing wet CO2, the L80-13Cr tubing sizes in the 13Cr series are a different material in the same catalogue family from carbon-steel L80 tubing, and the two must never be confused on an order.

Where a string is expected to be pulled and re-run many times, the enquiry states the expected pulling frequency together with the coupling finish the specification requires — the coupling production described on this site is phosphating of internal and external surfaces, magnetic particle inspection and marking to API Spec 5CT. What condition a given string's couplings are in after that service is an inspection judgement; this page draws no ageing conclusion from the finish name.
