Casing pipe in oil and gas service
In this catalogue, casing pipe means the steel pipe in the published size list — fourteen sizes from 4-1/2 in to 20 in. The grades are named in the published grade list, a separate list; the two lists are not documented against each other. It is specified under API Spec 5CT, bought by outside diameter, weight and grade, and threaded STC, LTC or BTC unless a premium gas-tight connection is required. If you arrived here looking for water-well casing, piling tube or general structural pipe, this is a different product with different steel, testing and thread requirements — and the distinction matters, because an API 5CT casing joint carries pressure and axial loads that a water-well tube is never designed for.
The company's casing family lists five catalogue entries anchored by named products — 5 in N80 casing, J55 casing, L80-13Cr casing and 4-1/2 in LTC casing among them — and a published machinable size list of fourteen diameters: 4-1/2, 5, 5-1/2, 6-5/8, 7, 7-5/8, 8-5/8, 9-5/8, 10-3/4, 11-3/4, 13-3/8, 16, 18-5/8 and 20 in. That list is the working envelope for quotations.
Grades available for casing
| Grade | Listing | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| J55 / K55 | Named in the published grade list | See the J55 page |
| N80-1 / N80Q | Named in the published grade list | N80 yield 552–758 MPa per company data for the named 5 in sample; see N80 page |
| L80-1 | Named in the published grade list | Also base grade for 13Cr variants; a hardness limit applies only where your specification sets one |
| P110 | Named in the published grade list | Section assignment is set by the well design |
| L80-3Cr / 9Cr / 13Cr | Chromium grades in the published grade list | See 13Cr corrosion-resistant page and CRA page |
Grade selection follows the well design, not price alone. Yield strength, collapse resistance and, in corrosive wells, chromium content decide whether a grade belongs in a given interval. If your programme includes sour or CO2-bearing formations, raise it in the enquiry. If your design names anti-sulphur grades such as 80S, 90S or 110S, raise them in the enquiry; they are not part of this catalogue's published first-party grade list, so supply of any such grade is confirmed in the written quotation rather than assumed. Where the design names a chromium designation for that case, it names it from the published grade list — L80-3Cr, 9Cr, 13Cr, P110-13Cr and 28Cr.
Threads: STC, LTC, BTC and premium
Standard API threads for casing are STC (short round), LTC (long round) and BTC (buttress). BTC and LTC couplings are the stock entries the catalogue names for these forms. The catalogue lists premium thread processing as a separate family alongside these API forms — the family it describes as its gas-tight thread work, with named patterns; what a named pattern seals is confirmed against that pattern's own documentation in the quotation. The catalogue's premium patterns include the BGT and TPJC connection types named in its premium thread processing entries. The coupling grade for a line is the grade the design states for it.
Manufacture and inspection
Casing described on the company's product pages is hot-rolled, threaded on CNC equipment and inspected with automatic flaw detection and hydrostatic testing, with automatic marking and painting lines and ultrasonic thickness measurement in the described equipment list. Packing is by steel strap or steel frame, or as agreed in the order. When you request a quotation, state the length range you need — Range 1, 2 or 3 — because range affects both threading slots and bundle packing, and state whether you need drift testing or special end finish recorded on the inspection documents.
What sizes does the published list cover?
The published machinable list runs from 4-1/2 in to 20 in in fourteen sizes. State any size or grade outside those two lists in the enquiry as its own line, for written confirmation. The two lists are published separately and are not documented against each other.
Is seamless casing pipe available?
Seamless steel pipe appears in the platform catalogue's main products list, named as its own list item alongside casing and tubing; that list does not name a seamless casing line. If your design specifies seamless construction, state it explicitly in the RFQ and ask for the line to be confirmed against that specification in the quotation.
How do I get a price?
Send outside diameter, weight or wall, grade, thread, length range, quantity and destination through the form below. Ask for MOQ, packing and lead time to be confirmed for that specification in the written quotation.
Request a Quotation
Send your size, grade, thread and quantity. MOQ, packing and lead time are confirmed in the quotation for your exact specification — no generic promise replaces a written quote.
