What EUE means
EUE stands for external upset end — the upset (thickened) end form named in the published thread-type list.
The catalogue makes the stock position concrete: N80 and L80 tubing couplings are named entries, and a 2-7/8 in EUE coupling is explicitly listed as held in stock. 2-7/8 in sits in the middle of the published coupling stock size list. Stock sizes for couplings across the family run 1.315, 1.66, 1.9, 2-3/8, 2-7/8, 3-1/2, 4 and 4-1/2 in, and EUE is one of the forms enquiries inside that list can name. Only the 2-7/8 in EUE coupling carries named stock evidence on this site; availability of any other size in the list is confirmed in the quotation. Current stock by grade is confirmed in the quotation; treat any web page, including this one, as a starting point rather than a live inventory.
EUE specification checklist
| Field | What to state |
|---|---|
| Size | Nominal tubing size, e.g. 2-7/8 in |
| Grade | The grade the design names for the string |
| Thread | EUE 8-round form per API 5CT / 5B unless otherwise stated |
| Finish | Phosphated standard; copper-plated anti-galling listed in family |
| PSL | PSL1, PSL2 or PSL3 processing as required |
Thread dimensions and tolerances for the coupling family are stated by the company to follow API Spec 5CT and 5B. The practical consequence for the buyer is a gauging basis: the coupling is gauged and checked against the standard, and the pin it must accept — its size, form and source specification — belongs on the order, so make-up compatibility is verified against the stated pin rather than assumed. It is also why the specification discipline on this page matters — the moment an order quietly mixes EUE couplings with NUE pins because both are called tubing couplings, the standard stops protecting you.
NUE couplings
Non-upset couplings are the NUE entries in the family list; where coupling outside diameter is the constraint in your design — inside tight casing, or where annular clearance governs — state it in the enquiry. The smaller coupling outside diameter is the point of the form. State NUE explicitly in an enquiry, on its own line. Special-clearance couplings, also listed, are the reduced-OD coupling form in the same family.
Finish, as described by the factory
The coupling pages describe the family's finish as a process: internal and external surfaces phosphated, magnetic particle inspection carried out, and marking applied in accordance with API Spec 5CT. That is the process as the factory describes it; this page adds no performance claim to it. Separately, the catalogue lists copper-plated anti-galling couplings in the coupling family. State the finish your specification requires in the enquiry, so the quotation prices the finish as specified.
Is 2-7/8 in EUE always in stock?
It is the catalogue's named stock coupling. Quantities on the shelf move with orders, so ask for the count available for your requirement to be confirmed in the quotation.
Can EUE couplings be supplied in L80 or P110?
The family lists N80 and L80 tubing couplings by name and spans J55 to P110 across its entries. State the grade with the size on the enquiry line.
EUE or NUE for a new fleet?
The form the completion design names. EUE is the external-upset form and NUE the non-upset form, whose coupling is the smaller-OD form; state the form the design names in the enquiry.
